Walter Russell and the Hermetic Doctrine
Walter Russell and the Hermetic Doctrine
“The keystone of the entire structure of the spiritual and physical universe is Rhythmic Balanced Interchange between all opposites.”
Walter Russell, in the above statement, sums up the entire core of the Hermetic Philosophy. It is yet another view of duality, observed from unity. Russell was one the greatest geniuses of the modern era, yet it led him to truths known and incorporated into the earliest mystery schools. It is true that even Tesla told him that his ideas were too far ahead of his time. These dangerous ideas were later published in a book called Atomic Suicide?
This is clear from this excerpt from a letter that his wife, Lao Russell, wrote on January 7, 1956:
“Two great minds in the scientific world, however, did believe in my husband’s Cosmogony regarding the spiritually controlled electric universe and its relation to gravitation and magnetism, also they believed on his divine source of knowledge. These were Thomas Edison and Nicola Tesla. During the months of close association with Mr. Edison, as his official sculptor, he thoroughly convicted him of the unnatural concept of electricity, form which the untrue Coulomb Law arose, and of magnetism, which is entirely misconceived by modern science. Edison deeply regretted that his advanced age prevented him from helping to reverse present day concepts, for it would be the beginning of a hard fight. Nicola Tesla was a man of great spiritual vision. He was thoroughly convinced that the entire energy concept of modern science was basically wrong somewhere, and my husband’s solution of that mystery – together with the mystery of gravitation which is the sole source of energy – won him over completely to the new thinking which bound the invisible and visible worlds together. He too was not only old, but feeble. He said to my husband: “I would gladly help you if I could, but it would be useless. Science would believe me to be as crazy as it thinks you are. Besides that, if you are right, every text book of science would have to be scrapped – and that would mean millions of dollars lost and every physics professor would have to learn his physics all over again. You are so hopelessly ahead of your time that I believe the only way your knowledge can be saved is to write it down and diagram it, then seal it in a sepulcher with instructions that it be opened in a thousand years.” “
“The electric energy which motivates us is not within our bodies at all. It is a part of the universal supply which flows through us from the Universal Source with an intensity set by our desires and our will.”
Russell’s work can explain itself, and it’s connection to Hermeticism, through his many books, fantastically succinct quotations and brilliant diagrams. We see that he had the mind of a Pharaoh or an Egyptian priest, so it is not so hard to imagine that he may have been descended from them…
Russell is a bloodline of ancient origin, yet one that has often been shown off to the side in many depictions the ‘Blue Blood Family Tree’, as it has perhaps not been as closely associated with the agendas forwarded by some other of these families.
Essentially, if such families have access to higher knowledge of the mystery schools, anyone given this information can choose to be a rogue that seeks to share the knowledge with the world. Also, some of them are just natural geniuses and feel compelled to help the world. Is this what Walter was? I find his philosophy quite similar to that of Akhenaten…
I cannot say if he is tied to the ancient Russell line, but it would make sense. I’ve sometimes wondered if Russells were not unlike the Griffindor Bloodline, (amidst other families more akin Slytherin). Beyond this Harry Potter metaphor, I mean to say that perhaps the Russells, as a family, were one of the only bloodlines of “nobility” that actually had any nobility, generally at least. Yet perhaps they were still privy to mystery teachings or Atlantis secrets…
There are many Russells who have profoundly changed the world, namely Charles Taze Russell, who discovered secrets of the Great Pyramid’s Prophecy written into the bible. He wrote of these secret discoveries in his ‘Studies on the Scriptures’ (1886). These works were studied in independent bible study groups. Publishing this knowledge, rather than keeping it in secret, is what makes both Walter and Charles Russell heroes to me. They were not ‘occultists’ (were not hiding anything), but exhibitionists, like Manly Hall. They discovered great secrets and shared them openly. Several other influential Russells can also be found throughout history, (Bertrand Russell?) yet none quite like Walter.
“How does one chip off the marble that doesn’t belong? … That comes about through five things: humility, reverence, inspiration, deep purpose, and joy. No great man has ever wise-cracked his way to greatness. Until one learns to lose one’s self he cannot find himself. No one can multiply himself by himself. He must first divide himself and give himself to the service of all, thus placing himself within all others through acts of thoughtfulness and service.” – Walter Russell
Walter Russell’s insights came because he was self aware and connected to the universal mind. He understood his own process by which he could at any time, access his own superconscious, it would seem. He could ‘tap in’ to his own inner genius, at will. Like Hermes, he found a balance and a rythm and swinging pendulem in all things. Like the symbolism of Set and Osiris, Night and Day, Russell saw all things as balanced by FORCES of NATURE, which the Egyptians simply called Neteru, or Nature…
As you consider his thoughts, keep in mind the Seven Hermetic Principles outlined in the Kybalion:
“You may command Nature to the extent only in which you are willing to obey her. You cannot intelligently obey that which you do not comprehend. Therefore I also say, ask of Nature that you may be one with her and she will whisper her secrets to you to the extent in which you are prepared to listen. Seek to be alone much to commune with Nature and be thus inspired by her mighty whisperings within your consciousness. Nature is a most jealous god, for she will not whisper her inspiring revelations to you unless you are absolutely alone with her.”
